Puquios, Nazca: Advanced water technology in the Peruvian desert


 "The puquio is a horizontal well; an underground galleria which connects a point on the surface with the point in the underground where groundwater flows. Intersticial flow travels down into the well, it flows through and empties down into a small reservoir (qocha) or directly into the irrigation channels" (Lancho, 2006)
