3D Laser scanners for geotechnical and glaciological applications

This is one of the latest acquisitions of the GRANDE Project: An advanced 3D Laser scanner. This equipment is an advanced tool for glacier mass balance studies, and similar applications, such as geotechnical studies.  Currently, it is being applied for glaciological studies in the Condoriri and Huayna Potosí glaciers, and has been applied to investigate the mechanisms of the mega-disaster occurred in Bolivia in February this year (shown in the video). Further applications are on the way and will be posted!!!

How heterogeneous is the hydrological response of the Sajama National Park?

La compleja respuesta del heterogéneo sistema hidrológico del Parque Sajama, Bolivia.

The Altiplano in Bolivia is an interesting site for research, because of its highly heterogeneous, and poorly understood, hydrological response. In a video I show you a sample of such heterogeneity. This short video shows a small geyser in the Sajama National Park, on the right chain of the Western Cordillera of the Andes in Bolivia. Enjoy!
