Hello friends,
The idea is to share our knowledge. Simply that.
First meeting: July, Friday 16, around 5 pm
Frequency: Weekly if possible.
The schedule is:
- Day 1: Freddy: Monte Carlo & sensitivity analysis in hydrologic modeling.
- Day 2: Nam san: Neural networks in hydrologic modeling.
- Day 3: Reno: Matlab basics.
- Day 4: Freddy or Myat: Arcview, Autocad.
- Day 5: Nilupul, Freddy, Myat: Satellite image processing (Erdas 8.4, Autocad, Arcview - second part.
- Day 6: Nam san: ArcGIS.
- Day 7: Luminda: Downscalling.
- Day 8: Farid: Tank model.
- Day 9: Nilupul: Water conflicts.
- Day 10: Kang: Ecological impacts of dams.
Since everyone is busy, for the presentations we agreed that we do not need to prepare a power point presentation. For example, to teach GIS we can just use our laptop, and teach with an easy practical example. The idea is to show how to apply the techniques taught. We do not expect to reach the level of other sites where knowledge is exchanged (although it would be great if some day we can reach the level of the videos posted at videolectures.net, for example).
I hope that in the future we will keep in touch through this kind of information exchange. I think this would be an interesting outcome.
If you are a presenter, you may record your presentation (including voice) in avi format (300 Mb space in hard disk for 30 min) using:
- Camstudio: http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/
Editing of this blog is only allowed to members. Details I am sending to your mails.
As always, any idea is welcomed. Tweet

ReplyDeleteOK friends, let's start on July 16th. To show that my propose will work, I will begin with the first presentation on Monte Carlo methods. I propose to go for the meetings, otherwise it would be more efficient to work by our own using books or over the internet as we've been doing until now. Agree?
ReplyDeleteAfter recording my presentation, I will post it here, and I will attach the worksheet that I usually use for the method.
